Hi, I'm Lindi Penning, a proud mom and chartered accountant, and I have lived with Type 1 Diabetes for over 24 years. I've lived with diabetes since age 7, and while it has presented challenges, it has never defined or limited me. My journey has been one of resilience, culminating in two significant achievements: becoming a chartered accountant and completing the iconic Comrades Marathon.
Running wasn't always part of my dream. It started with a half marathon, where I struggled without the support of an insulin pump or continuous glucose monitor. But, like many things in life, I pushed through. A turning point came when I saw a rugby player proudly displaying his continuous glucose monitor, inspiring me to challenge myself further. With the unwavering support of my athletics club and my husband, I not only completed the Two Oceans Marathon but went on to conquer the Comrades Marathon.
