I was diagnosed almost 4 years ago at the age of 22. It was really hard to get to grips with having type 1 diabetes and I struggled for a few years using the pens to achieve a healthy hba1c. With pens, I was only hitting 75%-80% in target range and it was beginning to get me down. I've been on the Dexcom and t:slim closed loop for 4 months now and I've never looked back! My levels are always 95%-100% in range, my hba1c has gone from 78 to 53 in the first 3 months of having my pump. I can't recommend the t:slim enough it's totally given me my life back. I can get up and go without worrying and as a rugby player too it's helped a lot with match days and training. All I have to do now is unclip my pump and I don't have to worry about anything. If you are having second thoughts about the pump, don't! Just try it and you won't look back. I've also had nothing but help from Air Liquide Healthcare themselves and can order my bits for my pump with ease. Overall going on the pump has had a massively positive impact on my mental health, physical health and my relationship with type 1 diabetes. The technology is amazing and really user-friendly, it doesn't take long to learn at all. Being on the pump also aided me in being able to try for a baby. I have no con to having the pump and recommend all type 1s to give it a try if you can. Thank you t:slim for helping me get my life back and not letting diabetes win!
