I'm 15 years old and have been a Type 1 Diabetic for almost 6 years, wearing a t:slim pump for just over 4 of those years. The pump has helped me incredibly with my martial arts training as it has kept my blood sugars under control during high-intensity exercises. This control has allowed me to continue participating in classes and reach a high enough standard to compete. Before the pump, I would not have been able to keep enough of a tight control of my blood sugars in order to consistently train at a high level. However, with the pump's system, I have been able to compete and train more than ever in my sport, leading to many personal victories for me. In the time period of 2022-2023 alone I have won two bronze medals in the European Championships, two silvers in British Championships and I won the English Championships and the Nationals. My most recent (and biggest) win was when I represented Team Great Britain at the World Championships in Greece and was placed bronze on the podium. Due to this excellent pump, I have managed to achieve all of this without putting too much of a strain on my blood sugars or my body. For me, this pump means that I can continue doing my sport to a high level without the need for constant intervention and that I can achieve my goals even with Type 1 Diabetes.
